Tamarack

Currier Forest Products specializes in Vermont-grown Tamarack wood, the most exotic wood species we harvest in the Northern Forest. Our Tamarack is sustainably harvested and custom milled for high-end residential construction projects.

Tamarack is a pioneer species, and tends to grow in diverse natural, mixed stand forests, making it a valuable component in sustainable forests. Like many species, Tamarack is susceptible to insect infestations as it ages, and careful management is valuable for maintaining overall forest health.

Tamarack is often referred to as the American Larch, Eastern Larch, or North American Black Larch. Tamarack is second only to Western Larch in hardness of coniferous species and is known for being tough and durable.

Milling & Finishing Options:

Currier Forest Product will work with you to identify milling and finishing options for your project.

One popular finishing option is Charred Tamarack, the process of exposing wood to an open flame to accentuate the character and rawness of the grain. This finishing technique also weatherproofs the wood and deters insects.
